Mathew Gilbert
Mathew Gilbert is the Chief Executive of Woodford Foundation. He recently returned to the UK from New Zealand where he undertook and completed a Masters degree in Development Studies at The University of Auckland. Mathew’s work experience includes managing national programmes, in Indonesia, for the World Bank’s private sector arm the International Finance Corporation, in addition to grassroots development work with Voluntary Service Overseas. Prior to his entrance into the development arena, in 2003 with VSO, he managed a number of different projects, programmes and operations in the City of London, for a number of different organisations including shipping companies and financial institutions.
Karen Goodman-Jones
Karen’s background is in programme management and logistics. Having worked in production in BBC news and current affairs, she changed careers and worked as an aid worker in Indonesia, Kenya, Sierra Leone and Liberia working on both emergency aid programmes and long-term development projects. These included emergency food relief, water and sanitation projects and a variety of medical projects with both refugees and local populations. She is the Programmes Manager at Woodford.
Alex Hiam
Alex joins us as our fundraising officer. She was a teacher of the deaf in Birmingham and London before moving to Shropshire. She was the first co-ordinator of VISS, the sign language agency and worked with local organisations Headway Shropshire and Parent Partnership Service where her work included promotion and writing successful funding bids. Alex will be looking to grow the Woodford Foundation’s supporter base and to increase the charity’s fundraising income. Se will also be responsible for the charity’s twitter account (twitter.com/wfdeaf) and facebook page (facebook.com/wfdeaf).
